Outskirts of Naples.

The level ground of the area corresponding to Caserta was called ,during the Roman age , Campania felix, not only for the fertility of the ground and the mild climate, but also for the privileged position. The ground which stretches from the sea to the Apennines, offers wonderful natural landscapes and many sites of great historical and cultural value. The three Bourbon sites that have to be considered are : Caserta with its Royal Palace, the small village of San Leucio and Carditiello. The Medieval village of Caserta Vecchia is very interesting too. Where the high part of Caserta is, are to be pointed out :Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Calvi, Sessa Aurunca, Aversa , Capua. Not to be missed the Basilica of Sant’ Angelo in Formis.
